“I have been using Katzung 10th edition as one of the major textbooks for medical pharmacology course for 3rd year medical students. It was a well balanced text in every aspect; broad coverage without losing readability, detailed but clear-cut description, and basic mechanistic discussion in a clinically relevant fashion. No doubt Katzung was regarded as a “gold-standard”.
When new 11th edition was delivered to me, I was surprised to see full-color figures and summary tables at the end of most chapters. Because it used a bigger format than the previous edition, it was easier to read, at least less intimidating. All these changes should help medical students understand key concepts of pharmacology much easier. I would definitely recommend this new edition to my students. Kudos to the editors and McGraw-Hill who took extra step to improve already a very good textbook. Now my expectation for future 12th edition is even higher!”
